Make Sure You Know the Basic Rules
You should never play any casino game if you are not 100% clear on the rules. Don’t start looking at advanced strategies and professional tips until you are confident of the basic rules and gameplay. Take the time to read them and if you are not clear on something, see if you can find it explained elsewhere. You can also practice the game in demo mode, so that you can get your head around it before you start to risk your hard earned money.
Bet on the Banker
Baccarat only offers the choice of three different bets, Banker, Player and Tie. If you look at the house edge of each bet, then the Banker has the lowest (due to the way the third card rules work). As such, you should always bet on the Banker. It will win slightly more than 50% of the time. However, you should be aware that a 5% commission is taken on winning Banker bets.
There are No Commission Baccarat games in which this commission is removed. If you are playing this version of the game, then you should only bet on the Player as it has the lower house edge of the two.
Stick with the Banker Bet Until it Loses
It is always a good idea to try to make the most of winning streaks. If you are betting on the Banker and winning, then stick with it. While there is no guarantee that your next bet will win, as explained above, the Banker bet is the most likely one to win. If it losses, then you can switch to the Player bet. However, you should switch back to the Banker bet as soon as the Player bet loses. If a hand ends in a Tie, then ignore it, don’t count it as a loss.
After a Losing Banker Bet, Wait a Round
If your Banker bet loses, you could switch immediately to the Player bet. However, many people advocate waiting for one more round as the chance that Banker will win the next round is still greater than 50%.
Ignore the Tie Bet
The Tie bet at first looks very attractive as it offers a significantly larger payout of 8:1 (sometimes even 9:1). However, it is a bet that you should never make. It has a very high house edge, meaning that it very rarely wins. As such, it is far better to risk your money on the Banker bet, which has a much better chance of winning.
Practise in Demo Mode
It is always worth practising a game in demo mode before you risk your money on it. The demo mode offers exactly the same experience as the real money game, but it is free to play. It means that you can get to know the game in great depth without risking a thing. You can try out different strategies and ensure you understand the rules. Once you are feeling confident, you can then switch to real money mode and put your new found skills to the test.
Don’t Play for Too Long
It is a good idea to put a time limit on your gaming session. While the game may be simple, it still requires concentration and you will get tired after a while. It is worth planning your gaming sessions in advance, either set a time limit or a limit on the number of rounds that you will play. Once the session has expired, take a significant break, regardless of whether you are winning or losing. In fact, you should never chase your losses when playing.
Set a Budget and Stick to It
While the basic Baccarat strategy may be very simple, bankroll management is just as important. You need to set a budget for your session before you start playing and make sure you do not exceed it. Once you have run out of money, it is time to stop playing. For example, if you have a budget of $100 and want to play 50 hands. You would then bet $2 per hand and stop when you have played 50 of them, even if you are on a winning streak. There are various other betting systems that you can use to help manage your bankroll, but flat betting (betting the same amount per hand), is often the best option.
Be Careful Playing Mini Baccarat
When played the traditional way, Baccarat is actually a fairly slow paced game. You will perhaps only play around 40 hands an hour. However, when playing online, especially RNG games or Mini Baccarat, the pace is much faster. In fact, it is possible to play as many as 200 hands an hour if not more. This of course means that you will be making far more bets and as such, you risk burning through your bankroll very quickly.
Don’t Fall for the Gambler’s Fallacy
Many people fall into the trap of thinking that if the Banker bet wins many times in a row, then it must be the turn of the Player bet to win. This is what is known as the gambler’s fallacy. It is completely false. The result of one round has no impact on the result of the next. Don’t start looking for patterns or analysing previous rounds. It is a complete waste of time. You will see that many Baccarat games offer roadmap score cards, which are designed to display the results of previous rounds. These can be very complicated to understand and as explained, they are actually useless, so don’t waste your time on them.
Make Sure You Are Aware of Bonus Conditions
If you have accepted a casino bonus, then make sure you are fully aware of its terms and conditions. Very often Baccarat is excluded from casino promotions. This means that you will not be able to play it with your bonus money. Furthermore, Baccarat normally does not contribute to wagering requirements. However, you will occasionally come across bonuses designed specifically for Baccarat players, and these are always worth taking a careful look at as they are often excellent value for money.
Only Play Licensed Games
This goes without saying and if you are playing here at Spin Rio, then it is not a problem. However, you should never play any game at an unlicensed casino. If the casino is not licensed, then you cannot be sure that the game in unbiased and that you have a fair chance of winning. You will find plenty of Baccarat games to enjoy here at Spin Rio and not only are we a fully licensed casino, but all of our games come from licensed developers.
None of the above tips are complicated and they will all contribute to your enjoyment of the game. Make sure you keep them in mind when you play and you will be well on your way to success at the Baccarat tables.
